Ready for summer? If so, it’s time to get you outside and on the river with an exciting educator workshop hosted by the National Park Service! Get introduced and learn more about your local national park right here in the Twin Cities: the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area!

Metro elementary educators teaching in grades 3-6 – this free two-part workshop is for you! The Great River Educator Workshop is designed as an inspiring introduction to the Mississippi River and how it can connect to your classroom.

The first part of the workshop is an online session helping you discover the exciting education programs offered by the park and how you can take advantage of them for next school year. We also want to hear your ideas for navigating the new school year and how we can help you get your students connected to the outdoors!

The second part features an up-close look at the river in a kayak! We want you to know more about the great Mississippi River and its importance to the Twin Cities area through an interpretive paddle on the water. We also want to make it easy, so we will provide the boats, paddles and safety vests, as well as the professionally trained staff for what amounts to a great educational outing!
