You are invited to our spring virtual STEM Educator Workshop.

 

 

Workshop Title: Integrated STEAM Lessons Using MN Content Standards - Structures and Planning

Date: Friday, March 7, 2025

Time: 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM CST

Guest Speaker: Dr. Katey Shirey, Integrated STE(A)M Teacher Educator

Cost: FREE | pre-registration required. Free CEU's available.

 

Workshop Description: Knitting together STEM and STEAM concepts supports deep student learning. A key to making worthy STEM and STEAM lessons is ensuring student learning standards are matching up.

Come learn a Minnesota-tested strategy for aligning content standards for powerful STEM and STEAM integration. In addition to learning the planning structure, you’ll have time to plan with a partner to walk away with a standards-aligned integrated lesson.

 

   

 Dr. Katey Shirey is a STEAM education expert passionate about blending engineering, art, science, and math in K-12 classrooms. With a Ph.D. in Teaching and Learning from the University of Maryland and degrees in physics, sculpture, and teaching from the University of Virginia, she brings a unique perspective to integrated learning. Through her consulting service, eduKatey, LLC, Dr. Shirey partners with educators to design STEAM curricula, professional development, and strategic programs. Her collaborations with organizations like ASEE, e4usa, and the Knowles Teacher Initiative help educators inspire students to think creatively and solve real-world challenges.
