Apply to the M-ASCEND high school teachers cancer curriculum summer program for paid professional development
Hosted by the Masonic Cancer Center (MCC) at the University of Minnesota, the goal of the M-ASCEND teacher program is to support MN public high school teachers in the development of curriculum materials about cancer biology, local health disparities, and/or STEM careers for use with their own students. Participants will:
- Spend two weeks on the UMN East Bank campus (June 23 - 27 and July 7-11--participants must be able to attend all days both weeks) learning from researchers at MCC and their partners at the Program in Health Disparities Research.
- Attend lectures with researchers, tour facilities, shadow researchers, gain access to teaching resources, and try out lab activities for the classroom.
- Receive a $3000 stipend (half at the start, half upon completion of the work) as well as 40 hours of Continuing Education Units.
Multiple teachers from the same school are encouraged to apply as it can lead to fruitful summer planning sessions! Teachers from outside the metro area may be able to receive on-campus room and board for the program dates. The application closes on February 24, 2025. More information can be found here.
