Dear Community of Earth Science Teachers,
Anyone interested in taking the very low cost AMS DataStreme courses this fall should act quickly, as the associated University California University of PA has an accelerated start schedule due to COVID and the deadline to sign up is rapidly approaching.
These web-based courses are rigorous and useful for anyone teaching general science or Earth Science concepts K-12.
You can only take one course at a time except in unusual circumstances, such as a leave of absence or an educational sabbatical.
The cost for each three credit course is $450.00 and since the credits are offered through nationally accredited California University of PA, they meet many district requirements for advanced level certifications and track change. There are also Masters and Certificate programs available through CalU for those who might be interested. The majority of the work is done online and at home and may give you great ideas for distance learning this fall if you find yourself in need of remote activities. There is a slight discount if you join AMS as a k-12 teacher-member that brings the cost closer to $400. Pretty cheap for 3 graduate credits compared to most places.
Registration deadline is coming up soon on August 6, so if you are interested, do not delay! If you are near Pennsylvania, please reach out to me for details, rather than filling out the online form at the AMS website. That will ensure that you are connected to an AMS mentor who is nearby.
