WANTED: High School Students!

The MN ASM materials camp will provide a hands-on experience into the world of materials science and engineering

Who:
    * Students entering their Junior or Senior year in high school in Fall 2020
    * Students entering their Senior year will be given higher priority in the selection process
    * Inquisitive learners with strong math and science aptitude

What:
    * Four day, summer camp utilizing hands-on learning principles of materials engineering
    * A unique science experience under the direction of industry and education based “Materials Mentors”
    * Combination of mini-demonstrations and field trips, with extensive involvement in laboratory facilities to actively explore
        materials science & engineering principles

Where:
    * University of Minnesota - Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science (CEMS)
    * Content Provided by the MN Chapter of ASM

When:
    * June 16 - 19, 2020

Cost:
    * Students receive FREE meals, tuition, knowledge and entertainment
    * This a commuter camp. Students must arrange their own transportation to the U of M each day

How to apply:
    * Application requires a Student Application and a Teacher Endorsement
    * Applications and Endorsements are made via the online forms at

    * Applications are due by March 31

How are students chosen:
    * To ensure a personal, hands-on experience, a maximum of thirty students will be selected
    * Unfortunately, not all qualified applications can be selected
    * Strong candidates will have a strong interest in applied science.
    * Students shall describe why they want to learn more about engineering and materials science
    * Selections will be announced around April 15 via email
