Offered in partnership with the Jeffers Foundation, this hands-on session takes the classroom into the real world with strategies and techniques for successful teaching and learning that supports state academic standards and integrates your existing curriculum with the students' local environment. Focus is on journaling as a proven technique for integrating language arts, science, math and art through environmental studies. Materials provided include a Lookit (magnifier, tape measurer, thermometer and lanyard in a transparent pouch), a Minnesota Weatherguide Environment Calendar and other tools for outdoor learning. Participating teachers are eligible to receive a class set of "Jeffers Journals" for their students.
