Project Lighthouse Information Session

September 23, 2014, 6:00 - 8:00 PM

Geek Partnership Society has created a grant program, Project Lighthouse, that allows local schools and libraries to have vendors like the Science Museum of MN, Works Museum, Como Zoo, and the like to come onsite for programming.

Project Lighthouse is open to applications from any public school, charter school, public library, Park and Rec, or non profit.  Our target area is the Twin Cities.  We limit the grants to one visit per calendar year unless approved by our board of directors.  We have been giving out grants for over 8 years.

This is a scheduled time for all of our vendors to talk to teachers, librarians, or parents about the wealth of science programming available.  For example, last year the Science Museum of MN brought water tables, giant dinosaur bones (replicas), and electricity wheels to show how they can tailor programs to MN Standards.  The Raptor Center discussed animal science and the science of flight.   It is great time to watch demonstrations and ask questions.
